I love granola. I love making it myself, coming up with fun new flavor combinations, getting the kids involved, and of course eating it! We always have some around, and it is the perfect snack to pack on trips, for hiking, or anything we do that requires a little something to eat. Most of the time I prefer my own homemade granola to the varieties available in the stores, but all that changed when I heard about the new Bear Naked Custom Granola!
So what is this magic? Well, it’s a 100% customized, perfectly prepared granola that is delivered to your doorstep. To customize your granola, you start by choosing your base flavor. There are three different ones to choose from: Cacao + Cashew Butter, Chocolate, and Honey. I picked the first option for mine, and whoever thought thought cacao and cashew butter was a good idea should get a medal, because OMG YUM!
Once you have your base chosen, then the fun begins! Now you pick three different add-ins to go with your granola. They have over 50 different chef-inspired options to choose from, like your typical chocolate and coconut, but they also have a ton of “out there” ingredients like bourbon flavoring and basil. They also have a fun little flavor analyzer using IBM Watson that will tell you how well your chosen flavors will work together, which is super helpful!
They don’t stop the customization at the granola, though, because you can also choose the character and give them accessories for your canister, and even “bearify” yourself by having them print your face on the package! We didn’t add our photos, because the kids liked the bears on there already, but I can imagine this being adorable as a gift for almost any occasion.
I let the kids choose their own granola flavors, and they had a blast doing it! Kaia went with a more traditional combination of honey granola and different dried fruits, while Judah went over the top and got cacao + cashew butter granola, with chocolate chunks, coconut, and praline pecans. I have to say, Judah’s ended up the favorite!
The last step in the process is choosing a name for your granola. We all used our names, and it was cute to see them printed along with our chosen ingredients on the side of the canister!
