My backyard is my oasis. It has always been that way, and I work super hard at making it an area that my family can spend time in comfortably. I set up most of our parties on the lawn, and once temperatures rise above 60 degrees, we frequently dine at the picnic table. Every March I usually start getting the yard ready for spring and summer, and my list of things to do is constantly growing. Right now I’m up to a page full of updates, changes, plantings, and other miscellaneous things, and I know once I get out there and get my hands dirty that list will only grow. I love doing it, but it’s a lot of work!
Anyone who deals with yard maintenance knows that keeping up the perfect lawn is time consuming. There’s the mowing, the clipping, the planting, the arranging, the watering, and of course those pesky weeds that crop up everywhere you don’t want them to.
They are notorious around my gardens, which are tricky lawn spots to mow because of all the corners and angles. I could pull them out, but that would leave an ugly bald spot in my grass, and chances are two new weeds would just pop right up after that. With as much work as I put into my yard, I definitely don’t want to waste it by using products that don’t work so I will never compromise on quality in this area. I also love saving time, so I think my new go-to for weed control will be Roundup® For Lawns. Roundup is the #1 weed killing brand for over 40 years, and and they have a new lawn formula in addition to their other products I rely on. This is a specially formulated product that I can use on most of the weeds in my lawn as it kills over 90 weed types, and, when used as directed, it won’t hurt my sensitive southern grass.
I love the look of a smooth, even lawn, and the kids love running around in a nice blanket of green!
I am going to be doing a lot of ornamental planting this year, and I have a few fun shrubs and border flowers that I really think will accent the yard well. I am also just about ready to start my gardens for the season, which is one of my favorite activities of the entire year. I plan on building a third planting box to go along with the two I already have, and I am super excited to see what I can grow this time.
I have a few other fun yard projects in the works over the next few months, and I will show you one of them in just a few weeks when I come back with an update!
