This simple but festive snack mix is perfect for Halloween parties, as giftable treats, or even an everyday snack!
Last week there was a paper sent home in Judah’s backpack asking for parents to bring a classroom treats for the fall party they are putting on later this month. Since I’m all about getting in the spirit, I immediately started thinking about what I would make. Of course, everything that came to mind was complicated and way too much for a school party, so I sat on it for a few days. I eventually realized that I was thinking about it all wrong – why was I trying to overthink a classroom snack? I don’t need scratch-made pastries or hand dipped peanut butter cups. I think I’ve been so deep in seasonal blog post mode that I failed to realize I don’t need to put on a food show – why would I? All I really need is a simple snack that Judah and I can make together, and my tried-and-true Goldfish® crackers snack mix is perfect for that! Want to hear more? I thought so!
This is part recipe and part craft, and once finished, you will have adorable mini cauldrons full of Monster Mix! This will make enough for 10 mini cauldrons, and the great part about the recipe is that you can really customize it to whatever occasion you want by switching out sprinkle colors and ingredients. You could even add dried fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips to suit your needs! Judah and I had a blast making this together, and he loves being part of my recipes!
You might remember a similar mix I did last year, and this is pretty much the same thing but with a spooky makeover. It hast just four ingredients, and the only steps are pouring and stirring. Now let’s get started! You will need:
- Two packages Goldfish® crackers (cheddar flavor)
- One package white candiquick melting chocolate
- Halloween sprinkles
- Mini candy eyeballs
- Mini cauldrons (available at most big box stores or craft stores)
- Optional: clear plastic bags for each cauldron
I know what you’re thinking – “Cheddar? With white chocolate? Eww!” But trust me, just give it a try. I promise you will like it. The two flavors are actually amazing together, and everyone I’ve given this to has loved it! I pretty much always keep a package or two of Goldfish crackers in the pantry – it is one of our favorite snacks, and so great to use in crafts or games too! There are many reasons why I love these crackers, but among them are that always baked with real cheese and have no artificial flavors or preservatives. Awesome!
Start your recipe by pouring your Goldfish crackers into a large bowl, onto a sheet of parchment, or into a large zip top bag. Melt your white chocolate, drizzle it all over your Goldfish crackers, and add in some sprinkles. Mix everything together thoroughly until evenly coated.
Let your mixture sit for a few minutes so your white chocolate can harden, and then grab your mini cauldrons.
Fill up each cauldron, sprinkle on some eyeballs, and voila – you’re finished!
Wasn’t that super simple? You can put each in a clear plastic treat bag and tie it off if you would like, or leave it as-is. Either way, it is delicious!
