Living Bold

September 16, 2016 by Jess MillionMoments

I like to think of myself as a pretty bold person. I’m a business owner, a public speaker (not often), and someone who chronicles her life on the internet for all to see. So yeah, I guess I’m pretty bold. To celebrate that, I’m sharing a recent bold experience in partnership with LISTERINE®. I have always been in love with adventure, but over the years, my life has started to lack the spark I used to thrive on as a 20-something thrill seeker. Before having kids, I regularly spent weeks in the mountains, hiking, camping, and getting lost off the trails. I climbed mountains, rode roller coasters, and crowd surfed any chance I got. After having kids that has slowed down quite a bit, but we take our thrills where we can, which isn’t very often these days. Last month we took a short beach vacation, and while we were there I came across the chance to do something super bold in the form of a treetop adventure, so I signed up the whole family! The next morning we were in the woods, strapped in to harnesses, and listening to safety procedures before beginning our 30 foot climb into the canopy.

This experience was by far one of the craziest the kids have ever been involved in, and while I am completely comfortable clinging to the side of a mountain, I’ve never done a treetop catwalk before. It was exhilarating, but I have to admit that I did have a moment during my first few steps out into the air where I thought “oh no”. Of course it passed, and after that I was good to go. Judah started out terrified, but once he learned to trust his equipment, there was nothing stopping him from sailing through each new pass between the treetops on all kinds of different ropes, planks, and pulleys.

There were 4 loops (sets of different passes), with each lasting about 20 minutes, and then the ziplines were the final task for each one. I absolutely loved seeing Judah conquer his fears and finish all of the courses by himself. Being Autistic, I wasn’t quite sure how he would take it, or if he would have a meltdown mid swing and have to be rescued, but he took it all in stride, little by little, and powered through – he ended with the biggest smile on his face and wanted to do it over and over again. I am so proud of all he did! Overall our adventure was magical, and it was something super refreshing that I would absolutely do again in a heartbeat! It is my goal that the kids always have a sense of adventure, and this was the exact kind of activity that embraces that.

Speaking of being bold – I recently heard about the LISTERINE® Brand’s new BRING OUT THE BOLD™ campaign that rewards people for doing new, adventurous and bold things. I love anything that encourages this kind of activity, so of course I had to share! How do you get in on it? Well, between September 7th and December 7th, visit BoldPercent.com to join the fun, win rewards, and and earn sweepstakes entries towards cool prizes.

The LISTERINE® Brand’s BRING OUT THE BOLD™ campaign is based on the Study of Bold which found that LISTERINE® Mouthwash users were more likely to do bold things than non-users. Isn’t that cool? Here are some of the prizes you can win by participating in their program:

  • 1 Grand Prize of a trip to one of six bold destinations (Australia, Zambia, Alaska, Hawaii, New Orleans, & Spain)
  • 15 Level 2 Prizes of bold excursions – from surfing lessons to racecar driving
  • 30 Level 1 Prizes of bold-themed packs of high-end gadgets and gear in themes such as “Outdoor Adventure,” “ Bold Fitness,” and “Tropical On-The-Go”

Want to be even bolder? Upload a receipt showing the purchase of LISTERINE® Mouthwash to receive an additional 50 sweepstakes entries.
