Easy Halloween Snack Mix

September 30, 2016 by Jess MillionMoments

This easy kid friendly snack mix was made in partnership with Step2 and inspired by the new Grand Luxe Kitchen. All opinions are my own.

My kids are at the age where they want to help out and be part of everything. From daily chores to meal prep, they love being part of the action. For Judah, he has especially become interested in cooking, and since a large part of my job is recipe creation, he sees me doing it at all times of the day. I have started letting him pour, stir, and measure ingredients, and since he has been really great at it, I decided to start giving him recipes of his own. These don’t involve cooking, cutting, or anything that could be even a little dangerous, but they are great for him to make pretty much all by himself. He made his first recipe a few days ago and had a blast doing it, so here it is!

Kitchen Kids Halloween Snack Mix

This recipe is ridiculously easy, and all you need a s few ingredients and ten minutes from start to finish. This makes about 2.5 cups, and you can easily double it for parties or classroom goodies. Here are the ingredients:

  • 2 cups Chex cereal
  • 1/2 package white chocolate almond bark
  • 1/2 cup candy corn
  • various sprinkles of your choice

Here is what you do to make it:

  1. Melt your white chocolate
  2. Mix your cereal, candy corn, and white chocolate in a bowl until covered, then spread onto a sheet pan or piece of wax paper.
  3. Add sprinkles, let sit for 10 minutes, then break up and serve!

Easy peasy, right? I’m sure you noticed the Step2 Grand Luxe Kitchen in the background, so let’s talk all about it! First, there is something I have been holding in ever since it landed on our doorstep: I am jealous of a toy kitchen. There, I said it! But who wouldn’t be, right? I mean, look at this beauty.

It is basically my dream kitchen, and it’s just so stylish! As a Step2 Ambassador, I get to see a lot of their toys in the planning process and before they are released to the public. I actually heard about this kitchen a year ago, and back then, even when it was in drawing/mock up form, I knew it was going to be a game changer. This baby is exclusively available at Toys R Us, and it would make a perfect Christmas gift!

Everything about this kitchen is over the top and ultra realistic, and it has all the bells and whistles. For interactive fun, it features a clear fridge door that illuminates the inside when you close it, and an oven that does the same. It also has real “popping” popcorn, a “swirling” smoothie maker, and pots/pans that make sizzling noises when placed on top of the stove.

It comes with a huge collection of cuttable play food, cups, bowls, pots, pans, and other accessories that are perfect for any mini chef to play with. My kids especially love to play with the plastic cupcakes and “prepare” the fruits and veggies.

This kitchen features great storage with a number of cabinets, shelves, and baskets, and the attention to detail is really just amazing. Just check out the farmhouse sink with spots for dish drying.

I could go on and on and on about all the awesome things the Grand Luxe Kitchen has to offer, but that would take way too long, so I’ll leave things here. If you want to see this kitchen in action, here is a fun video that Step2 made featuring Kaia and the rest of the Ambassadors.

It isn’t often that a new toy comes along that is so fabulous it really blows me away, but this kitchen really takes the cake! Head over to Toys R Us to find out more!
