My family spends a great deal of time in the back yard, so naturally I like to keep it updated and entertaining with plenty for the kids to play with. Last year we added a great 2-story playhouse from Step2 that is pretty much the most amazing thing ever, but it is geared towards kids a little older than Kaia, so she’s doesn’t really get as much out of it as Judah does. I have been looking for something small that can be hers, and Thanks to Step2 I found the perfect little cottage for my girly girl. It is called the Happy Home Cottage and Grill, and it is available exclusively at Toys R Us! I received this house as a Step2 Ambassador.
The Happy Home Cottage is perfect for the toddler crowd, and it is everything you need in a smaller, more basic playhouse. While it doesn’t have tons of bells and whistles, it does features some pretty cool activity areas like a mini “grill”, a sink, a built in window seat plus table, and a working doorbell. It also has a little window box that is perfect for adding flowers to!
The design of the house is very clean, and it has open space for Kaia to bring in her dolls or whatever toys she might want to play with. My personal favorite part of this house is the built in flooring – my kids love being barefoot, and with this smooth and sturdy floor I don’t have to worry about what they step on! I wish more play houses came with a flooring option, because I would choose it every time.
When I was a little girl, I had a playhouse that I spent every spare minute I could in, and to this day I still remember days in it as some of my best childhood memories. It was my own little space in the world, and I love that Kaia has one now as well! We set it up right next to the 2-story playhouse so they can be “neighbors”, and that in itself makes for tons of fun!
They love getting in their own houses, talking through the windows, and inviting each other in. They even have little playdates with dolls and action figures, and I love seeing them actually laugh together without fighting over who runs the house.
