Being a mom of a special-needs child as well as a child born with a heart defect has given me a different sort of outlook on life. I know that childhood isn’t always sunshine and rainbows for those experiencing it, and that some families have incredibly difficult roads to travel. Sometimes you are born sick or get sick or need treatment and services outside the realm of the regular pediatrician visits. What my family deals with is very mild in the scheme of things, but some children start out life relying on services, teams, treatments, procedures, and therapies to live, those aren’t always available or affordable for their family. Our family has personally benefitted from the help of others in Judah’s therapies over the past few years, and if it weren’t for state and private-party funding we never would have been able to foot the insane cost associated with his treatment. I can’t imagine being at the point of needing care for my child and unable to get it due to lack of funding, resources, location, or whatever else might be standing in the way.

We have been lucky, but I want to give back and pay it forward. So I am setting up a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and directing all the funds to my local hospital. The Children’s Miracle Network raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada, and they provide more than $3.5 billion in charitable care every single year. They also use donations to purchase life-saving equipment, conduct research, and pay for special things that make a children’s hospital crucial to a child’s healing (like therapy programs and playrooms). That is amazing, but we can do more!

I set up a virtual fundraiser, and in addition to that I am hosting a picnic next week to help raise more funds. My goal is $500, and I know that sounds like a lot, but it isn’t much when you think about how much medical care costs. I think I will make it, but I’m going to need some help! I am giving away a suitcase full of amazing prizes as an incentive, and all you have to do is donate $1 to enter. Want more entries? Every dollar counts as an entry. Cool, right? I think so!

The prize comes with this cute suitcase, and inside there are craft books, my favorite headphones, high-value gift cards, a portable speaker, body-care products, a smart phone, some fun paper craft supplies, a few children’s toys, and more! It’s the perfect “grab bag,” and stuffed to the gills with cool items!

This prize is entirely sponsored by me and not affiliated with any brand. To enter, fill out the form below. Looking for other ways to get involved? Here are some ideas to get you started!

  • Volunteer at your local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
  • Donate items to patients.
  • Order a Children’s Miracle Band.
  • Set up your own fundraiser – every little bit helps!

This is such a great cause, and I feel very proud to be able to pitch in. There is a huge need for donations and volunteers, and I love knowing that a family will benefit from what I’m doing! Put your money where the miracles are. Support your Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
