I created this festive snack mix as part of a sponsored post for SocialStars and Goldfish® Crackers. #GoldfishCrowd
Last week there was a paper sent home in Judah’s backpack asking for parents to bring a classroom treats for “holiday feast” they are putting on later this month. I immediately started thinking about what I would make, and of course everything that came to mind was complicated and way too much for a kindergarten party, so I sat on it for a few days. I eventually realized that I was thinking about it all wrong – why was I trying to overthink a classroom snack? I don’t need scratch-made pastries or hand dipped peanut butter cups. I think I’ve been so deep in holiday blog post mode that I failed to realize I don’t need to put on a food show. All I really need is a simple (but festive) snack that Judah and I can make together, and my tried-and-true Goldfish® crackers snack mix is perfect for that! Want to hear more? I thought so!
This is part recipe and part craft, and the end result is just adorable. This will make enough for 20 small treat bags full of snack mix, and the great part about the recipe is that you can really customize it to whatever occasion you want by switching out sprinkle colors and ingredients. You could even add dried fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips to suit your needs!
You might remember a similar mix I did last year, and this is pretty much the same thing but with a holiday makeover. It hast just four ingredients, and the only steps are pouring and stirring. Now let’s get started! You will need:
- Two packages Goldfish crackers (cheddar flavor)
- Two cups cereal (any kind you like)
- One package white candiquick melting chocolate
- Red and green sprinkles
I know what you’re thinking – “Cheddar? With white chocolate? Eww!” But trust me, just give it a try. I promise you will like it. The two flavors are actually amazing together, and everyone I’ve given this to has loved it! I pretty much always keep a package or two of Goldfish crackers in the pantry – it is one of our favorite snacks, and so great to use in crafts or games too!
Start your recipe by pouring your Goldfish crackers and cereal into a large bowl.
Melt your white chocolate, pour it in the bowl, and add in some sprinkles. Mix everything together thoroughly with a spatula or clean hands until evenly coated.
Now spread your mixture out in a single layer onto the shiny side of some freezer paper and finish with more sprinkles.
Let it set for at least 20 minutes so that your white chocolate can really harden. After that, it’s time to make your treat bags! For this you will need a pack of clear cookie bags (found at any craft store in the baking section) and some ribbon. All you have to do is scoop your mix in and tie with your ribbon. Voila – you have an instant festive treat!
