I’ve never been one to really wear makeup. Sure, I will whip out the eyeliner and mascara on date night (which is rare) or when I’m having my picture taken (even more rare), but in general I just don’t tend to wear it. But when it comes to Halloween it’s a different story entirely. I love going all out with a full face of whatever is going to transform me into my chosen costume. I’m a Halloween fanatic, and I love getting creative with my look. Each year I carefully choose my costume and go from there. Since I’m a mom I am up to my eyebrows in cartoon movies, I thought I would choose a cute character from one of my kids’ favorites, and seriously? It’s adorable. Can you guess what I am?
If you are on Instagram I’m sure you have seen those makeup artists that create incredibly intricate, gorgeously impossible looks on a daily basis with all kinds of crazy products and a (very) practiced hand. Well, this isn’t going to be like that because 1: I’m a makeup dummy and 2: I don’t have a huge product stash. But I am going to do my best, and then I’m going to show you how to magically make it disappear in less than 60 seconds with the help of the super effective Neutrogena Makeup Removal Cleansing Towelettes. Because really, nobody wants to spend as much time taking it off as they did putting it on! Now let’s get started. The first thing I do is get a nice clean canvas to work with.
Next, grab a Neutrogena nourishing long wear eye shadow in “Smoky Steel” and use the very bottom shade to cover your entire eyelids and then line under the lower lashes.
You wan a saturated look, so make sure you are giving your lids full coverage by using your shadow generously. Once lids are shaded, take a black eyeliner pen and line the top lash line. On top of the lower lashes, shade in your water line with the white section of your eyeshadow palette to help make your eyes look larger.
Moving on, you will need black mascara and a pack of fake eyelashes. I use two layers of black mascara, and then add on fake lashes. The eyelashes are optional, but if you want to try them they are super easy! I picked up a random brand that was less than $5 and they worked perfectly!
Once the eyes are finished it’s time to move on to the rest of the face. For this you will need Neutrogena’s SkinClearing oil free makeup in a shade lighter than you think you are. Now, I never wear foundation type makeup because I have very sensitive skin, but this didn’t bother my face at all! In addition to the liquid makeup, you will also need some white Halloween style face paint and a blender sponge.
Mix 3 parts liquid makeup to 1 part Halloween makeup, and then spread evenly all over your face. Blend it all out until you have a smooth, pale finish. After that, all you need to do is your lips! Grab that eye shadow palette and a tube of any kind of clear lipgloss. Apply the gloss to your lips, and then with your finger, spread the black shadow onto your lips. Voila – you’re a vampire! Raaar!
To complete your look, you will need a short sleeve black dress, some black and red stockings, and some red sneakers.
Isn’t it just too cute?! I’ll show you the actual full size completed look at next week’s Halloween party, but for now you totally get the gist of what I’m going for. So, remember when I mentioned the magically disappearing makeup trick? Well here it is! First you take a Neutrogena Makeup Removal Cleansing Towelette. If that’s not your thing you can also use the Ultra-Light Cleansing Oil. You can find both of these at Walmart.
And then you wipe.
No seriously, that’s it. One wipe and it’s GONE. Do you know how insanely easy that is? It’s amazing! I love these towelettes because they are gentle enough for my sensitive skin, easy to pack in my purse, and I can use them anywhere without worrying about making a mess of my face. They get it ALL and they don’t leave smudgy streaks, which is exactly what I need when I want to get makeup off quickly. It effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and makeup (even waterproof mascara!) in one step. I don’t even have to rinse my face afterward because there is no heavy residue!
So, now that I’ve shared my super easy vampire tutorial with you, go ahead and get to scaring!
