Birthdays, Big Steps, And New Toys

August 31, 2015 by Jess MillionMoments

I am a Step2 Ambassador. All opinions are my own.

Judah turned five a few weeks ago, and when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he told me two things: a scooter and a new tool bench. The scooter was ridiculously hard to find and narrow down, but for the tool bench there was only one brand I considered: Step2. I have been a Step2 Ambassador for the past two years, and over that time I have absolutely fallen in love with every part of this company. They will always be my first choice for children’s toys, and I trust their products over any other toy brand out there. They have a number of different tool tables to choose from, but I immediately loved the *brand new* Home Depot Pro Play Workshop & Utility Bench (available exclusively at Toys R Us) so I went with that one. Read on to see just why it’s his new favorite toy!

We already had the smaller Home Depot Handyman Work Bench, but since he has outgrown it we cleaned it up and dropped it off at the donation center in anticipation of his birthday. Since his party was at Chuck E Cheese the day after his actual birthday (and the box was too big to fit in the car), we decided to keep this gift at home and let him open it on the big day. He was SO excited and I wish I could have captured his face when he first saw it, but let’s just say I think he had a happy birthday!

My husband and I put it together the night before and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It took us about 20 minutes from start to finish, and once we had it up and ready I couldn’t wait to reveal it the next morning!

I’m going to run through a few of our favorite aspects of this set and then share a little video at the end, so let’s get started. First, I LOVE that this is a two piece set. Besides being more customizable for kids wanting to “set up” their own workshop, it feels like I am getting more bang for my buck – a second piece? Heck yeah! My next favorite thing about this set is just how interactive it is. It goes well beyond a simple table/storage area and into a real working tool shop. From battery operated *working* drills to the sound and motion hand and table saws, this has work that will keep my curious kid busy.

It comes with a number of hand held tools, screws, bolts, buckets and storage areas as well as a great foam building set that is perfect for any child’s imagination!

He is over the moon about his new “big boy” tool bench, and to show you just how adorable it is check out our video below!
