Kids Get Messy

July 23, 2015 by Jess MillionMoments

I’m sharing kid cleanup tips as part of a sponsored post for SocialStars.  #Johnsonspartners #SoMuchMore

Before I had kids, I never understood how my mom friends could be so frazzled all the time. I had no idea that kids were walking, talking magnets for mess and that being unprepared would take on a whole new meaning when walking out the door to a playdate or afternoon adventure. Yes, before I had kids I was actually pretty together in my daily life. But after? Not so much. We do a lot of outdoor activities, and since we are always on the go, timing and preparation are super important. Since I’m sure I am not the only parent that suffers from messy kid syndrome, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite tips for minimizing the muck and keeping dirt at bay.

Judah isn’t too much of a messy kid, but Kaia? Holy cow – she’s like a tornado. I swear she just attracts dirt. She goes in the sandbox and comes out with a layer of sand covering her scalp. Oh yeah, and when I try to clean her up? I get this face.

So, I need to arm myself with a few key tools to help battle the yuckies when I can’t just give her a full bath. I’d like you to meet my three besties. We’ve got JOHNSON’S® hand & face wipes, JOHNSON’s® NO MORE TANGLES® detangling spray, and JOHNSON’S® baby pure cornstarch powder with calming lavender & chamomile. They’re always in my go bag, and they help keep me sane.

Since our big three are hair, face, and skin messes this is the perfect trio for us. I like to use the JOHNSON’S® baby pure cornstarch powder with calming lavender & chamomile in her elbows, armpits, behind the knees and of course the feet whenever we expect a sweaty, sunny day. Want to know why? Because nobody likes a sticky toddler. Ewww! I love that it gently absorbs body moisture, leaves a subtle lavender scent, and helps eliminate friction.

Next up is my personal favorite, and super easy portable clean-all cloths, JOHNSON’S®  hand & face wipes. Because they help wipe away 95% of dirt, they are probably the only reason my kids don’t walk around covered in it. Kaia loves rubbing dirt, sand, paint, you name it all over herself, and thanks to these wipes cleanup is a breeze. See this? I’m not sure what it is, but it’s about to be gone.

Ta-da! And it’s made with their trusted NO MORE TEARS® formula that is gentle enough for her eyes.

Finally, after a day in the sun, the pool, at the lake, or even just out in the elements her hair is a complete mess. I’m talking dirty, tangled, just…yuck. I usually braid it to help keep it somewhat manageable, but even then, when I take it down it needs some serious work. So guess what I do – reach for my JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® detangling spray and just brush the tangles away. It also has the NO MORE TEARS@ formula, and I can use it on wet or dry hair. She doesn’t even flinch.

I also always make sure to carry an extra change of clothes, some flip flops, extra hair ties, and a small towel just in case. After all, you never know what a busy toddler will get into, right? And it’s better to be prepared than to be left short!
