I used JOHNSON’S® for my little one and for myself as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #johnsonspartners #SoMuchMore
Being a mom is kinda like being on a roller coaster. You have highs and lows, you have moments of terror, moments of thrilling happiness and moments that you feel you are going way too fast. Sometimes you raise your hands up, feeling the wind in your hair and for a moment you are blissful. And the next it twists and turns and scares the bajeesus out of you. This is motherhood. Full of highs and lows, full of bliss and terror all at the same time, and an overall feeling that things are going by too quickly.
Kaia is turning 3 in a few weeks, and I am feeling like I wish I could slow things down. Not that I don’t want her to grow too – I love seeing her bloom out of babyhood, but it is bittersweet. She is my last baby and I’m achingly afraid to get to the point to where she doesn’t cuddle anymore. Because cuddling is our thing. It’s what we do. And in those moments where her tiny body is snuggled up beside mine and her arms are wrapped tightly around my hands, I feel the best kind of happiness.
Touch is a powerful thing. It can change your mood immediately, and I just love it when tiny hands reach up and grab for my own. I love feeling that connection between the two of us, but it won’t last forever. This time of the “in between” baby and childhood is full of firsts, lasts, and a whole lot of love. Some of my favorite moments with her as a mom are the little ones that involve everyday tasks – getting ready for the day while she sits on my bed, painting each other’s nails (yes I let her do mine. They’re not perfect, but hey, I love it), or even something as simple as putting on lotion. Whenever I get it out she loves rubbing it on both of us.
She takes so much care in helping me with my lotion, and those little hands can pick me up no matter how I am feeling at the moment. Since we share lotion so much, I’ve been using her JOHNSON’S® Baby Moisture lotion with vanilla & oatmeal and I just love it. The vanilla oatmeal scent isn’t overwhelming, but it is just enough to make my skin smell amazing. I am not a fan of overly perfumed lotions, and this one has just the right amount of scent. Plus oatmeal is great for nourishing and soothing skin. I also love giving her after bath massages with JOHNSON’S® baby oil gel with cocoa & shea butter which is super moisturizing on fresh out of the bath skin. She loves her massages, and I am glad that I can still do them for her. You can read more about our massages here, and also check out why I love JOHNSON’S #SoMuchMore campaign.
I love that Kaia expresses love through touch, and I hope she is always as loving as she is now. I know there will come a time where she is “too cool” or “too busy” to cuddle with mommy, but for now I will stay blissfully happy with our time together, and remember to slow down and cherish it a little more before time takes over and she grows up before I know it.
