Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s not because I’m super romantic and lovey dovey, but because I just got my craft on and hosted a sweetheart party for my besties! I know it sounds a little cheesy, but I promise you it’s fabulous. And it cost me under $100. So what’s this sweetheart stuff all about? Well, it is about having fun, sharing a little sweetness and really just being with the people you care about because Valentine’s day goes beyond the romantic kind of love. It isn’t all roses and chocolates either, because this party really brings the fun with a cookie decorating station, some cute crafts and a tub full of Capri Sun pouches that I picked up on our weekly Sam’s Club trip and adorned with paper hearts. Fun? I think so, and now I’m going to break it down for you!
Any good shindig needs refreshments and snacks, and I didn’t want to bother with pitchers and cups so when I was thinking up my party I had the fabulous idea to use Capri Sun pouches. I knew I would need a lot so I picked up a 40 count variety pack just in case. We drink Capri Sun regularly around here so it was a natural choice, and I love that it has 25% less sugar than other juice drinks. It leaves out artificial colors and preservatives which is something I love, but really, I like it because it is just so yummy!
I wanted to do something cute with the pouches so I grabbed some scrapbooking paper and cut a bunch of little hearts out of it. I glued them together and tied them around each pouch with some string. I didn’t take a picture of it (ugh) but on the under side of each heart was a little saying like they have on the conversation hearts.
For the food I wanted something that combines snacks with DIY so I set up a super cute cookie decorating station with a bunch of different kinds of sprinkles and icing. You know I’m usually a made from scratch girl, but I really just didn’t have much time, so I picked up some pre-made sugar cookies while I was grabbing Capri Sun. I set them out in a tray and then filled a small crate with all kinds of decorating supplies.
Isn’t that just adorable? I made sure to have a variety of icings and sprinkles in different colors and flavors so that everyone could really get creative.
We had a great time dressing up our cookies and seeing who could do the best design!
I wanted to keep things small so I added bowls of conversation hearts to complete the party spread to either munch on or decorate cookies with.
You know how much I love crafting, and I whipped up this adorable balloon wreath to fit around the bottom of my cake stand. I love the way it turned out! I love making wreaths out of different things, and while sometimes they can be tedious this one was super easy! If you want to make one yourself all you need is about 5 packs of 20 count balloons and a wire wreath form. To create your wreath, you are going to tie each balloon onto the outer most ring of the wreath until you get the full way around.
While you’re tying the balloons make sure they all go in the same direction so you don’t have ends sticking out.
It will take you around 20-30 minutes but you can easily leave it since there’s no yarn or fabric to wrap. You can use this wreath on your front door, as a wall hanging or any way you would like. You can also customize the colors to any occasion that you can think of! Oh yeah, and don’t run out of balloons. I ran out so I cut up some Capri Sun pouches, spray painted them and stuck them on to cover the incomplete portion!
And now that I’ve shown you just how to create this party for yourself, get ready for party photo madness!
You can find the Capri Sun 40 count variety pack at your local Sam’s Club.
