I am in love with a machine. Crazy, I know, but ever since a brand new Keirug K40 Elite Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System landed on my doorstep last week my life has changed. Not only am I in a WHOLE new world of gourmet coffee bliss, but I also happen to have a spare 20 minutes to do whatever I want in the mornings now because I am not stuck brewing the old fashioned way. I never got into the whole coffee as a dessert thing, but now that I have my super cool Keurig I decided to get creative and come up with three fabulous coffee concoctions for my upcoming 4th of July festivities that will leave you drooling for more!
A lot of people have picnics for the 4th of July, and in the past I loved going and eating all the great food but this year mama needs a break. I have decided that I will be spending the holiday with my family in my own back yard, relaxing and watching my kids have a blast together. But just because we aren’t going out to the festivities doesn’t mean we can’t have our own, so I plan on cooking up a feast and serving it buffet style on our back porch. And I’m going to need a monster coffee to indulge in along the way.
Do you know how excited I was when I found out my new Keurig actually brewed OVER ICE? Oh my gosh, it was like my entire world changed. I have always chilled my coffee after brewing which took forever, so having this new function is perfect for me. Iced coffee is the basis for each of these drinks, and PLEASE NOTE that when brewing over ice you should never use a glass cup. The cups in this post are plastic. And now that we have that out of the way, sit back, relax, and check out these three amazing and indulgent coffee recipes!
Sprinkled Donut Iced Coffee
Yes, you heard that right. It tastes like a sprinkled donut. OH MY GOSH. This one is by far my favorite, and all it takes is one brewed vanilla iced coffee, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, some whipped topping and sprinkles!
Before you brew you can dip the rim of your cup in chocolate syrup and sprinkles to give it a festive flair, but that is totally optional. I think it adds a great touch (and looks adorable)! To make this decadent drink just pop a K-cup into your Keurig and brew. You can choose whichever of the three sizes you want, but I use the middle one.
Once it is brewed, squirt some whipped topping on top and add some sprinkles. Ta-da, you’re all done! If that isn’t your style why not think tropical for your holiday weekend?
Caramel Coconut Deams
This is basically my favorite Girl Scout cookie in a drink form. You know the one I’m talking about, the one that you wait ALL year to get your hands on and then promptly scarf down two whole boxes. This awesome iced coffee is full of caramel and coconut goodness with a great coffee undertone.
To make it, start with one plain unflavored iced coffee. Add in a teaspoon of melted caramel chips and a teaspoon of coconut milk. Stir vigorously, top with whipped topping and serve with a rim of chocolate and coconut.
Old School Chocolate Milk (Coffee)
This drink takes me back to lazy summer days as a kid. One of my favorite refreshments after a long day of playing was an ice cold chocolate milk, and now that I’m all grown up I wanted to put a more adult spin on it with coffee. For this one all you need is one plain iced coffee, some chocolate sauce, a touch of milk, some whipped topping and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips.
After you brew, add in a hefty spoonful of chocolate sauce and a teaspoon of milk then stir. Top with whipped topping and mini chocolate chips.
So now that your tastebuds are listening, which is your favorite? To be honest I don’t think I could even choose – they would each be my favorite depending on what mood I’m in.
These drinks are great to indulge in whenever you like, but you can also serve them at your next girl’s day or gathering by setting up a buffet station with all the fixings for a great dressed up coffee. Get creative with flavors and add in things like cinnamon, fruit, or anything else you can think of! You can even have cold brews ready to go and your guests can grab one and head to the topping station to create their own perfect coffee concoction. You aren’t just limited to these options either – head out to Walmart for other great brew over ice flavors like iced tea, fruit drink and more!
