I don’t know about you, but I think cupcakes in the shape of anything are instantly adorable. But cupcakes that look like burgers? Shut the front door! I made these for a super cool football party I hosted last week and they were SO popular I decided to share the how to here, so dust off your cupcake tins and lets get baking!
I know. SO freaking adorable! And you know what else? SO EASY! Here is what you need:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 4 or 6 eggs (depends on your cake mix instructions)
- water
- oil
- red and green icing (and yellow if you want to make cheese!)
- large muffin tin
- cupcake liners
Mix up each cake mix as instructed on the box. Next, drop *tiny* spoon fulls (I’m talking almost teaspoon size) into a greased muffin tin and bake for 6-8 minutes at 350 degrees until you are out of batter. They will look like this when you pull them out:
Okay, those seriously look delicious even by themselves! Flatten out your cupcake liners and place one yellow cake “bun” on each, then top each of those with a chocolate. If your chocolate “burgers” have too much of a rise on top just slice off a little so that your top bun will lay flat. Next grab your colored icing. If it isn’t a squirtable kind you will need to get a piping bag and tip. Pipe on a layer of green icing to look like lettuce, and then add a thin swirl of red on top as the ketchup.
Pop on another yellow cake bun, stick a toothpick in to keep everything in place and you are finished! Wasn’t that sooo easy?! If you want to go a step further you could add yellow/orange icing for cheese and sprinkle with a little sugar to look like little sesame seeds.
Not only are these cupcakes adorable, but they are delicious to boot! Want more awesome recipe inspiration? Be sure to follow me on Pinterest. P.S. I’ve totally got an entire board devoted to amazing cupcakes. YUM!
