I pretty much always wait until the last minute for things. Bad I know, but I work best when I don’t have much time and I am the absolute queen at last minute gifts. Seriously, I can throw something amazing together when I’m on the brink of a deadline, but give me a week and I don’t know what to do with my time! It might be my perfectionist nature – that last second might yield something genius, after all, and this adorable last minute flower pot gift I came up with using Bigelow Tea packets is just that! Want to know how to make one for yourself? Read on!
Do you have a special gal pal in your life who is impossible to shop for? What about a sister, mother, cousin, girlfriend? Are you reading this right now and secretly panicking because you STILL can’t think of anything to get them? Don’t worry. I was there a few days ago when I couldn’t decide what to do with the million boxes of Bigelow Tea I picked up from Walmart.
I am a huge tea fan, and Bigelow is my absolute favorite. I am in love with their Green Tea and their Perfect Peach was inspired by freshly baked peach pie! Besides the fabulous flavors, Bigelow is actively dedicated to environmentally kind manufacturing. You know I LOVE that! I also love gifting consumables ( hey, who doesn’t want something delicious?!) but I wanted to give something more than just a box of tea. I am a huge DIY’er as you already know, so I put on my thinking cap and wondered “what would go great with amazing tea?” And then I decided to build a pampering gift set around each flavor.
This is super easy, inexpensive, and best of all will take you around 10 minutes to make! Here is what you need:
- Bigelow Tea
- Small flower pot
- Small candle
- Bath pouf
- Nail polish
- Mini massager (or whatever else you would like)
- ribbon
- tape
- stick (any kind – I’m using a paper baking stick because it was on hand)
- felt – green and one of your choice
- felt flower (made yourself or store bought)
- scissors
That seems like a lot, but trust me it isn’t. And you don’t even have to be crafty to pull it off! Make sure when you are buying everything you are color matching to your tea packets (like for peach tea stay in the orange family, and etc.) and when you get home sort them into what each gift pot will have.
The first thing you want to do is make your flowers. Cut a leaf shape out of your green felt. Don’t worry about it being perfect, you can just freehand! Next take a felt flower and tape it on. If you don’t want to make your flower, you can find them pretty much anywhere, or even use a fabric flower or small bow. You can write your recipient’s name on the leaf, but I’m not because I don’t want to give away any surprises!
To make your tea flower, take out seven tea packets and put some tape on the back of each one.
Stack them on top of each other one by one in a circular motion until you have a “flower” shape. Keep in mind that someone will actually be drinking the tea, so don’t overdo the tape! When you’re finished attach your stick to the back with a piece of tape, then turn it over and do the same for your felt leaf.
Put your candle in the bottom of your pot and then tape the flower stick on the inside so it doesn’t move around/fall out.
Stuff your pouf in on top.
Top it with the rest of your goodies, tie a ribbon around your pot and you are finished! If you find things aren’t staying in place, you can either tape them or tie a ribbon around the length of your pot to secure everything.
Check out my finished pots. Now, if that isn’t an amazing last minute gift I don’t know what is!!
With these you will have the cutest gifts under the tree this year, and your friends will be wowed by your craftiness! Even though I made these as Christmas gifts, they are perfect for any number of occasions – birthdays, valentines, Mother’s day, you name it!
