I have never been one to follow trends or be “in the know” when it comes to fashion. You might call my style sense “quirky” and I love going bold (I had dreadlocks for 7 years for pete’s sake) so you wouldn’t really call my look conventional. I am also super picky, so imagine my surprise when shopping at Sears for my fifth wedding anniversary outfit I stumbled on a new trend that I actually like for once!
We’re planning a huge night out on the town for the big occasion, so I wanted to find something that helps me embrace my inner hot mama while keeping my wallet happy, and with my Sears Shop Your Way rewards I got the entire ensemble for around $65. That is what I call affordable fashion!
The Dark Romance look is all about feminine accents and delicate fabrics paired with dark colors and a hint of the risque. The bold hues, dark overtones and oh-so gothic accents remind me of a steampunk meets boho lovefest and I’m swooning all over it! Check out my ensemble, I was going for dateworthy but comfortable and I think my husband is going to be wowed when he sees me on our big five!
I can’t tell you how much I love this crochet lace top from Bongo. The color is super awesome, it fits in all the right places and I can dress it up or down depending on what I pair it with. Since I wanted to stay away from my normal choice of jeans and flip flops I went with some black leggings (SUPER in right now and less than $10) and then splurged on a killer pair of boots.
I’ve never been a fan of boots before, but once I tried them on I was hooked! They look great with short skirts, skinny jeans, leggings and can really make an outfit pop. Since I was going all out I figured that I needed some new jewelry to complete my look. I had a necklace that my grandmother gave me which matched my shirt perfectly, but I needed some cute new earrings. I settled on these amazing gold and black dangles – I think they really fit my Dark Romance look to a T!
What do you think? Sizzling and sexy? Dark and mysterious? I feel like a hot mama in this outfit and I can’t wait to wear it out on my anniversary! Do you want to see more fashion ideas from SearsStyle? Check out the LiveSoFab digital magazine for that and so much more! #ThisisStyle
