I am sure you have all heard of Origami Owl by now. If not, go ahead and crawl out from under that rock where you’ve been living! I see it everywhere these days – plastered all over Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and pretty much any other social media platform I can think of. (Yes, it is that big!) But what is it? In short, it is a line of completely customizable jewelry. But in reality it is so much more than that.
Origami Owl was started in 2010 by an ambitious 14 year old who had the idea of selling lockets with interchangable charms to her friends and family to make some extra money. Little did she know that her tiny idea would explode into the nationwide powerhouse that it is today! Not only do they sell adorable customized jewlery, but they also allow individuals to sell it themselves by signing up to become independent designers. Designers are able to have their own websites, their own stock and even host parties! The offer a competitive pay scale and tons of opportunities for advancement – designers can work independently or have their own team of designers to collaborate with. This is a great idea for ladies who need to make extra money but don’t have the time to devote to a part time job or girls (14 and older) who want to have their own funds.
The basic concept behind Origami Owl is to build a locket that holds your story. It could be your life story, your children’s story, the story of how you met your spouse or anything else you’d like. You have complete control over the design of your locket, and since there are so many combinations to choose from your Independent Designer will be there to help guide you. Think of her as your own private jewelry stylist, she knows what looks good together and can walk you through the process. My Independent Designer was Nicole and she was awesome! For my locket I wanted something simple so I chose the basic medium sliver locket with a ball station chain. I picked out each of my children’s birthstones for the inside and a charm that says “Karma” because it is something I always try to live by. My locket was missing something, and Nicole knew that Judah is Autistic so she suggested completing it with the Autism heart charm. I’m so glad she did because I LOVE it!
The great thing about these lockets is that you can change them whenever you want. You can easily switch the charms out, add more or even add personalized plates and dangles to suit your mood. There are SO many different looks you can achieve that this is truly a piece for every occasion! If you want to change things up just open the clasp on the side.
I can think of a lot of occasions where these lockets would be an awesome gift – whether as a bridal party present, a little something for the new mom in your life, for your own mom/daughter/sister/partner and SO many other occasions that are too many to name. (Guys: get your lady one of these PRONTO!) I’m really happy that I have one and I know it will be a part of me for a VERY long time!
