When we moved into this house, we immediately knew the kitchen was going to have to change in a major way. But, like all things that need to be done, it kept getting pushed to the side, and now two years later I still face that same awful wallpaper every time I walk in. But not for long, because we are finally fixing it up!
Almost every room in our home has gotten at least some kind of makeover this past year. We started with the living room, giving it new furniture and a new tv, then moved to the kids rooms, our bedroom, the laundry room, and most recently the dining room. I am super happy with all of our progress, but after everything we have done, the kitchen sticks out like a sore thumb! Why did we save it for last? Because I feel like it is the most important to get right, and because I have been waiting for just the right idea to come along that will transform it into the gorgeous space that I want it to be! But seriously, look at this super embarrassing before photo of my sink area:
As you can see, there are tons of things that need to be done in just that one space! My kitchen is the room I spend the most time in – I am a food photographer and blogger in my chosen path, so not only do I need a camera ready space, I also need it to be convenient and functional. I have a million and a half ideas on what I want it to look like, but after tons of back-and-forth with myself on paint colors and themes, I think I finally settled on the perfect look, which starts with a chalky ocean teal and white color scheme and a gorgeous new hands free faucet from GROHE.
See this beauty? It was love at first sight. And yes, you did hear that right. I said hands free. What is this magic? The GROHE K7 Foot Control Faucet, otherwise known as a lifesaver for moms who need to grow five new arms just to handle family dinner prep. Thanks to this faucet, I can make that four! The foot control option works through a small sensor that you attach to an area where your feet are when washing dishes. Ours was placed right under the lip of our cabinet under the sink, so whenever I want to use the faucet, I do a quick wave of my foot and the water starts! This is so perfect for me because I am constantly running back and forth with food covered hands when I am working, and I hate getting my faucet handle dirty and then having to wipe it down multiple times each day.
Aside from the awesome high-tech functionality of the K7, it just looks so cool, doesn’t it? It has a huge range of motion anything you need, and it also doubles as a sprayer with the push of a button.
Once we had the faucet installed, I stared on the painting and backsplash work, going from the sink as a starting point and moving outward to the rest of the kitchen. It isn’t finished yet, and the bulk of that will be in post #2, but for now here is a sneak peek of my color scheme and a little before and after of the sink area.
I am IN LOVE with my new look! The faucet is beyond perfect, and these colors? They instantly brighten my mood. No more dark, drab wood and ridiculous wallpaper straight from the 1080’s for us! Stay tuned for the full reveal soon!
