My husband and I recently redid our bedroom, and in the process realized that we desperately needed a new mattress. Our was okay, but it had gotten to the point that we each had our own “dips” in the bed where we slept, and that’s never a good sign. We have always slept on a traditional spring mattress, but with all the advancements in the mattress industry over the last 10 or so years I knew there would be a better option out there. I decided to do some research and came across an entirely new world: internet-only mattresses. These are highly specialized, made out of luxury materials, and usually cost under $1000. Whoa, right? I know, I couldn’t believe it myself! I took a few days to check out all of my options, and fell in love with the Bear Mattress. I got in touch with them about writing a post, and they were amazing enough to send one to us!
What makes Bear so cool is their technology – each foam layer is specifically made for the optimal sleep experience, and with a graphite gel infused cool layer you don’t have to worry about waking up sweating like with a lot of other memory foam beds. What set this brand apart for me is the Celliant technology they use – its fibers promote circulation leading to an increase in oxygen levels and to faster recovery and healing for your muscles. It is ideal for athletes, and all their foams are Certi-Pur Certified and have low VOC emmissions. The quality of construction on it is amazing, and prices range from $500 – $950. This is a great item to purchase for back-to-school when proper sleep is a must!
They ship right to your door in an easy to handle box – no salesman, no impersonal superstore experience, no five minutes on a floor model or a $3k investment. All you do is research, order, and in a few days your mattress will be at your door! And what if you don’t like it? That’s a great question. Bear offers a 100 night risk free trial, so if you try it out for 99 nights and it just isn’t for you, send it back for a full refund.
It is on the firmer side, and I have to say that going from a super soft/squishy spring mattress to this took a little getting used to. They do recommend trying it out for at least 30 nights so your body has time to adjust, which I’m sure is a pretty common concern when changing mattresses. I actually didn’t like it at first (my husband loved it right off the bat), but after a few nights of my body adjusting to it, I started to feel the difference of much better support and temperature control. Now I can’t imagine sleeping on anything else! The pattern on the fabric cover is a great modern texture, and it is really soft! It isn’t like traditional memory foam where you sink in and leave an indentation afterwards – it bounces back very quickly after pressing gown on it.
Sleep-wise, it is definitely an “on top of the mattress” feel which is great.
This baby is heavy due to the foam, but it bends, which makes it super easy to maneuver when getting it set up. Overall, I love it, and should have made the switch sooner! Check out an extended recap of our new mattress below!
