I am sharing easy kid activities as part of a sponsored post with Goldfish® Crackers and SocialStars. #GoldfishCrowd
Things around here have been going full speed ahead for the last few weeks and I haven’t even been able to pause and catch my breath. I feel I have fallen into the rut of not making a big deal out of the people I love, and that is a habit that I want to break. I know that sometimes we tend to overlook the little things, but they add up. So, I challenged myself to spend the month focusing on spreading love to those I care about, and I am so glad I did! I know it’s difficult sometimes to set time aside, but even if it is just for a few minutes I promise it is worth it. Need some ideas? Here are a few that I am doing.
I am usually working when Judah comes home from school, and most of the time I just pop my head out of my office to say hi and then go back to work because I’ve been super busy lately. It isn’t my first choice, but it is something that I struggle with because I have a lot of work to do, but I also want to spend time with him. So, I have started setting aside 15 minutes each school day to have an afternoon snack with him. We talk about his day, we cuddle, and I know that we both love it. It doesn’t seem like much, but a few minutes here and there can mean the world to a child. It turns out that when I come back to my computer afterwards, I’m much more productive because of my little break. Who knew, right?
Our favorite snack to have together is Goldfish® Crackers which are perfect for eating, crafting, games, you name it!
Another way that I’ve started to share love with my family is by cooking together. I used to cook alone while my husband was with the kids, but now I invite the kids to take turns helping me and it has been great! Judah loves being my helper, and the bottom line is that we are spending time together. We laugh, we have little jokes, and I am also teaching him how to cook in the process. Of course, snacks and dessert are our favorite things to create together, like these fun (and super easy) chocolate dipped Goldfish® crackers. All you need is some dipping chocolate, Goldfish crackers, and a whole lot of sprinkles!
My kids adore crafting, and so do I, so one thing I’ve been carving out more time for is arts and crafts as a family. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, and something as simple as crayons and paper will do. If you’re in the mood for a super simple craft, check out our fun no-glue flags we made last week!
All you need is some wooden sticks, colored paper, some clips, and of course decorations!
Schedule a Playdate
I know this sounds a little weird, but things get pretty busy around here, and recreation time can get lost in the shuffle. Why not schedule time to let go of everything, and spend at least a good 30 minutes playing whatever your child wants? Judah and I recently spent time building Lego sets together, and it was something that I felt like I hadn’t done in so long. I felt like I was connecting with him in a much needed way, instead of being as lost in my work as I usually am. Does that mean that I might have to work a little extra after they go to bed? Yep, but that’s okay.
There are so many more ways to do family time, but these simple ideas are helping me get to know not only my kids better, but really enjoy my family life a little more in the process!
