I participated in a Blog Blast Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Reebok. I received a gift card to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Judah is in the middle of his first week of school, and I’ve got quite a few feelings going on right now. Fear, nervousness, happiness, but the most dominant one is pride. I am so proud of how far my amazing boy has come and how seemingly easily he got to this point. Last year he was in a transitional class for kids who need a little special help, and he rose so high there that this year he is able to be in a full fledged, completely typical classroom with typical peers and no special instruction. Isn’t that amazing? My heart is absolutely full.
The weeks leading up to this were full of preparations, shopping trips and honestly a little bit of stress. I bought him a new lunchbox, school supplies, after school activity kits, and the last thing I crossed off my list was a new pair of shoes. Apparently his feet grew like crazy last year so he needed quite a few pairs, but he is in love with running shoes so as a special treat I took him to Finish Line and let him pick out a pair of “fast shoes” for his new school.
He takes a lot of pride in the things he picks out for himself, and these were no exception. He chose an adorable pair of Reebok Twistform shoes, and I’m just as happy with them as he is! As his first real pair of active shoes (we’ve done more casual/comfort shoes up until now) they are perfect – lightweight, breathable, great traction, and most of all comfortable. Oh, and they won’t break the bank so that’s always a plus!
When he was trying them on he insisted on giving them a “running test” because he had to make sure they would make him fast enough. (They don’t really, but they do cushion his feet with a spiral midsole for amazing comfort AND stand up to rigorous performance). And then of course when we got home he had to take his new school shoes out for a test drive, so we walked up to the school and let him do his thing.
I love watching him have fun, and I love that something as simple as a new pair of shoes can bring him such adorable joy! I am looking forward to a new year of school, but I have to admit that I’m a little scared as well. Realistically he will probably shine like a star and make tons of new friends, but this is a big step for me as his mom. I mean, kindergarten – wow! I know he can do it because he is SO strong. He overcomes challenges every single day and surprises me every time. I love this amazing kid!
