I feel like I haven’t shared a peek into our life in a while, and since so much has been going on I thought now would be a great time to do that. We are right in the middle of Summer and I couldn’t be happier! Judah will be 4 next month (how in the world did that happen?!), Kaia just turned 2 AND we got a brand new puppy! I have been wanting a new family dog for a while now, and we finally decided that Judah was ready for one so I checked around the local rescues and got word of a brand new litter of Pitbull pups that were in need of homes. One look at this sweet girl and we were all hooked!
Judah named her Izzy in honor of Izzy from Jake And The Neverland Pirates and they are totally BFF’s now. Speaking of pirates, this kid is obsessed with pirates. And bugs, which makes my skin crawl but he loves them so I grin and bear it. One of his favorite things to do is go outside in the morning and dig around the yard for worms. We made him a worm farm, and completely serious, he has had 18 worms in it at one time. Yuck! He names them, “feeds” them and calls them friends. He also loves helping me take care of our garden. We built a raised bed cedar plank garden back in April, and it is just about harvest time for a few of our plants. He was over the moon when he found a cucumber shaped like a J!
Besides Disney Jr, gardening and bugs he is getting really into art lately which is awesome considering I used to have to pretty much force him to pick up a crayon. On the Autism front he is making amazing progress – between ABA therapy and preschool he is learning SO much every single day and becoming a really well rounded little dude. And I’m super excited to report that he will be going into a completely normal, mainstream preschool this year! Yay!! There are still struggles (tons of them), but he is getting to be a lot better at managing them on his own. And his cuteness makes my heart melt.
Then there’s Kaia. First, um….where did my squishy baby go? She looks innocent enough, but this girls is a full on diva these days. She is smart as a whip, but whoa. The terrible two’s have struck us big time! She loves Tinkerbell and art, and when she’s not begging to watch fairies she is usually at her new Step2 art desk working away on her next masterpiece. Oh yeah, my kids love going shirtless. You’re only little once, right?
She is so curious about the world around her, and I’m super excited to watch her grow and discover everything.
On the personal front I am a busy bee these days. I went to SoFabCon 14 in May and spoke about photography along with the amazing Jillian from MommyTesters. The conference was fabulous and my speech was…well, super nerve wracking. But I loved it and I had a great time connective with my favorite blogging friends in real life. I highly suggest if you are serious about blogging to check out next year’s conference. Speaking of serious blogging, I also wrote a food photography course for bloggers through SoFabUniversity (the educational side of Collective Bias’s Social Fabric) which went live a few weeks ago. Let me tell you, it was a labor of love! I have truly found my calling in Photography. I love every single bit of it.
As far as this blog goes I have tons of great things coming up in the near future – awesome partnerships, a family vacation to recap and *maybe* even some videos. OMG. Yes, video. Here’s to the next frontier?
And that’s what’s going on in my life these days. Well, the fun parts anyway. Life is and will always be a little crazy, messy and hectic as anything, but the moments in between are absolutely amazing. Thanks for stopping by!
