Kid Friendly Game Day Activity Kits

January 27, 2014 by Jess MillionMoments

PicMonkey CollageLast week my husband and I hosted a football party.  Being a mom of two, I know how hard it is to go anywhere with the family in tow –  especially when we plan to be there for a while.  With that in mind I came up with these adorable activity kits using Rubbermaid containers and Sharpie markers that I picked up from Target!  Each kit had a whistle necklace, a cute bag of homemade soft pretzel bites and supplies to make their very own DIY drink sleeve.  The kids had tons of fun and the parents were able to watch the game so I’d say that is a win!  They were such a hit I just had to share them with you so head out, grab your supplies and lets get started!

Easy game day activity kits for kids

These only take a few minutes to put together, and guests can even use their Rubbermaid containers to carry home leftovers when the party is over. Genius!  So here is what you need:

  • Rubbermaid food storage containers
  • Sharpie markers (I LOVE the fabric and brush tip variety)
  • White foam sheets
  • Stick on laminating sheets (found at craft stores and general retailers in the office section)
  • plastic whistles
  • bite sized snacks
  • plastic snack bag
  • white paper
  • bottles of cream soda or root beer

Cut your foam sheets into 3×8 inch strips.  You can leave it blank, but I drew team outlines on mine to be colored in.  Next, put a hand full of your bite sized snacks in a plastic bag, cut off the top and staple a folded piece of paper at the top to close it.  Draw on a cute label with a Sharpie for extra fun.  After that put the foam sheet, snack bag, whistle and a few Sharpies into one of your containers and snap on the top!

Wasn’t that easy?  Now here is how to make those adorable drink cozies.

When you give the kids their activity kit, ask them to color one side of their foam strip.

If they are older they can do the next steps, but younger children and toddlers might need your help.  Lay each strip with the colored side down onto the sticky side of a laminating sheet.  Cut to size on three edges, leaving half an inch extra on one of the ends.  Pinch both ends together and stretch the extra laminating paper over to make a smooth seam.

Now grab a root beer, pull on the cozy and you are finished!  These aren’t just  for football parties though, they are great for birthdays and more!  Oh yeah, and guess what? From now until February 8th if you text the word COUPONS to TARGET you can get $1.00 off any Rubbermaid food storage and $1.00 off a Sharpie 4 pack or larger.  Awesome!
