Easy Tips For A Toxin Free Home

November 12, 2013 by Jess MillionMoments

Last week I had the pleasure of chatting with Seventh Generation about living a toxin free lifestyle.  I learned about the thousands of potentially dangerous chemicals that my kids are exposed to every day, I learned about their awesome toxin free line of products, and most importantly I learned some super easy things that I can do to reduce the bad stuff that we come in contact with every day. It was an eye opener to say the least, and I want to share some of the things I learned with you. These are all really simple but they can have a BIG impact, so read on!

Take your shoes off

This seems like a no brainer, but one of the most important things that you can do to protect your home from nasty toxins is to adopt a no shoe policy.  85% of the dirt in our homes comes from our shoes, and with that comes lead, pesticides, gasoline residue and more.  Eww, right?!  Not only will it keep the yucky stuff out, but you can save a lot of time and energy by having to clean your floors less often!

Open your windows

We all need to breath, right?  Well so does your house!  If you open your windows for just 5 minutes each day, you can help regulate your air quality and let the freshness in. It also helps cut down on odors, and I don’t know about you, but a nice breath of fresh air always lifts my mood!

Tips for a toxin free life

Take care of your body

Did you know that there are tons of body washes, lotions and other personal care items filled with nasty chemicals linked to things like cancer, behavioral disorders and much more?  Oh yeah, and did you also know that all those chemicals are absorbed directly into your skin when you wash?  They are.  Choosing USDA certified Biobased, natural, Paraben and Phthalate free personal care products helps keep your skin and body toxin free.

Clean Green

Use additive free, plant derived and EPA registered household cleaners throughout your home.  If you are a mom, you know this is a big one!  My kids put their toys in their mouths ALL the time, and I would feel a lot better knowing that there is no harmful residue left on them.
