I was browsing Pinterest the other day and came across one of the easiest and coolest tent ideas I have ever seen. I’ll be honest, when I saw it I had a “duh” moment because it was so simple that I had to wonder why I’ve never seen it before. I tried to hunt down the original owner but every link I clicked lead me to another share (not the original) so I can’t post it here, but whoever came up with this YOU ARE AWESOME!! To make this amazing tent all you need is a pack n’ play, a knife, a crib sheet and five minutes. FIVE MINUTES and your kids will think you’re the coolest mom on the planet! Now lets get started.
First set up your pack n’ play. Kaia has never been a fan of hers so I decided we could do without one from now on. If you don’t have one that you want to cut up you can always hop over to craigslist and score one for less than $20. (It is SO worth it!) Pick a side that you want to use as your “door” and cut the net out completely. Make sure you don’t have any loose strings!
After that the only thing you need to do is grab a standard size crib sheet and fit it over the top of the frame. You can really use any kind of sheet you want, but a crib sheet is sized perfectly for this and won’t sag or need any taping. Voila, now you have a tent!
Now that you’re done sit back, prop up your feet and watch you kids go crazy over their awesome new tent! This is great for bigger kids as well as infants, just make sure if your child can’t crawl yet that you are within arm’s reach when they’re in the tent. Once they figure out how to climb in/out of it you can give them some space, but with all things kids play with you want to be there to supervise their play whenever they are in it. Kaia used to scream and cry every time I put her in her pack n’ play, but now she is always hanging out in it! She loves climbing in and out and taking her toys in to play. I think she likes looking at the sheet too because sometimes she will just lie there looking up and talking to herself!
