I bet you thought I forgot about you, huh? Nope! I’ve just been busy making my new house livable. One of the things I’m most excited about is that Kaia finally has her own room! The place we moved from only had two bedrooms so she was rooming with me and it was a pain in the behind to say the least. Between having to tiptoe to the bathroom past 8pm and not having enough room to set up the crib I was SO ready to be out of there! (For real, she’s gotten so heavy there is a baby shaped dent in her pack n play mattress.) Judah has an awesome room that we basically duplicated to make the transition easier, but ever since finding out that Kaia was a girl I’ve been dreaming of decorating her nursery. I will show you some of my Pinterest nurseries (a.k.a. gallery of awesomeness that I’ll never afford) and then you can see a few previews of what I’ve done so far.
Here is one of my favorites. I don’t want her room to be overly girly, but I love the feminine accents of this room. And the rug? Ah-mazing.
Here is another one. Completely different but I love how clean and simple it is. There is a tad too much pink for my taste, but the carpet is the same color as ours and the blue matches nicely.
The only real things I’ve done so far is to set up the furniture and put a decal on the wall, but I’ve got big plans. I have been browsing Etsy for textile inspiration and there are about a million sheet sets that I’m in love with, I want to paint a wall or two and I need to find some creative storage solutions. It sounds like a lot but I’m hoping to be finished sometime in January. Here are some previews of what I have actually done. Not much, but it’s a start. All the furniture was Judah’s before we upgraded his bedroom set, so it’s a little beat up, but it still works. And yes, those ARE bite marks on the crib. Oops!
I took this on a rainy day but the room is extremely bright. It is actually the brightest room in the house. I love it but I need to get some kind of curtain. Nothing fancy, maybe just a simple piece of dark fabric that I can pull down as needed.
I almost don’t mind the white walls, but I’m a big fan of color in a room. I just have to figure out what color that is! I bought a great wall decal from Babies R Us for $25 (I’d link it but I can’t find it on their site) and I am going to use that as a starting point for my colors. I love that it isn’t too girly, and the colors really match the things I have in mind. It came with a bunch of grass, flowers and butterflies but I have yet to decide what to do with those. I might just leave them out entirely to keep things simple.
