Have A Happy Lunch With Del Monte!

October 15, 2012 by Jess MillionMoments

Have a picky eater?  I do.  Lately I’ve been having a hard time getting Judah to eat anything other than pizza, let alone something good for him.  Sure, he likes the occasional banana and devours hummus, but that’s just not enough.  I’ve tried giving him every fresh fruit I can think of but he either takes a bite and spits it out or refuses to try it entirely.  I thought I had run out of options until I came across the new Del Monte fruit cups at Walmart!

Del Monte #SmartSnack

I have shied away from fruit cups in the past because every brand I’ve seen is loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup and sugar.  I was surprised to see that these weren’t so I decided to try the Diced Apple & Pears with Caramel and the Diced Pears with Vanilla & Spice.

I didn’t have high hopes about Judah liking these but it was worth a try.  I am so glad I did!  The first time I gave him one of these fruit cups he practically inhaled the whole thing.  For real.  I couldn’t believe it!  We tried the Pears with Vanilla & Spice first and he loved it!  I was half expecting him to take a bite, spit it out and refuse to eat any more (because, you know, that’s what he does) but nope.  He ate it all and asked for more.  Finally something he doesn’t hate!

We have since added Del Monte Fruit Cups to our daily routine, sometimes mixing it up and adding a spoon full of yogurt or some graham crackers, but usually he just eats it plain.  It has a hint of vanilla and a touch of sweetness for a really great flavor on it’s own.  A few days ago we went on a picnic and brought along the Diced Apples & Pears with Caramel, it was a huge hit as well! Judah refused to eat the rest of his meal (big surprise) and instead insisted on the fruit.

He actually pushed his plate away and stole all the fruit cups!

I love how convenient these are.  I can take them anywhere, they don’t have to be refrigerated and the portions are just right.  They fit anywhere and clean up is a snap!

Del Monte Fruit Cups

Del Monte’s new fruit cups are a great everyday choice for kids.  I don’t have to worry about loads of sugar (there’s only 13 grams per serving) or harmful ingredients (NO high fructose corn syrup) and each individual cup is a full serving of fruit and loaded with vitamin C.
