Halfway there! As of today I am 20 weeks 6 days, and I can’t believe how fast it’s going by. It seems like just a few weeks ago I was standing in my bathroom, clutching the pregnancy test and shaking in disbelief at the plus sign I was seeing.
Here’s what’s going on from The Bump:
How your baby’s growing:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.)
He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
Symptoms: Not much different from last week. Still having the normal aches and pains. I’ve found the more water I drink the more manageable all of it is.
Weight Gain: I haven’t gained anything since last update, so still at 5 pounds total. And I’m looking pretty round. It’s really funny to see my belly getting bigger and bigger without gaining anything. Total opposite from last time, I gained fast but got bigger slowly.
Cravings/Aversions: Pasta with tomato sauce. Every.Single.Day.
Medical stuff: Nope. Pretty boring.
This week’s update is pretty short and boring, but next week I’ll be linking up again with the other preggie bloggers for the My Pregnancy Journal.
