Now that I’m expecting my second child, I’ve started to realize that I’m going to need a lot more diapers than my current stash to keep two kiddos in cloth full time. I’ve been shopping around and checking out new brands, looking at all the different features, and the number one thing I’m looking for is versatility. I need a diaper that is truly going to fit from birth to potty training without having to worry about snap settings that might be too big or small. And I want them to be able to share diapers. Guess who’s got that? Softbums!
I’m happy to bring you my review of the Softbums Omni with their new snaps! Not only have I gotten to test out this awesome diaper, but one of my very lucky readers will win one of their own! How great is that? My favorite thing about this diaper is the Slide 2 Size system. With it, the diaper can truly be sized for ANY baby, its got the largest size range of any diaper I’ve seen! Here are some pics at the largest and smallest setting. Right now Little J is 23 pounds at 18 months, and a bit on the skinny side. I’ve got the elastic set right near the middle of the two extremes, so there is tons of room for him to grow. I can get a snug fit on him every time very easily, and the rise is always perfect. They are also exceptionally well made so I don’t have any concerns about the elastic wearing out any time soon.

Softbums offers a variety of insert options to fit your absorbency needs. They have regular Dry Touch Pods, Super Dry Touch Pods, Organic Bamboo Pods, and Mini Pods (boosters). Since my son is a heavy wetter I chose the Super Dry Touch Pod. They are super long ( 20 inches!) and consist of three layers of absorbent microfiber topped with microfleece. It did make the diaper a bit bulky since it’s supposed to be folded in half, but it stood up to a three hour nap! Because the Omni system is so versatile, it can be used as either a pocket diaper by stuffing the absorbent pod or as an all in two by snapping it in and laying it on top. If used as an AI2, the shell can be reused more than once as long as the cover doesn’t get wet. This is my favorite option because I can just take out the pod and replace it with a prefold when he needs a change.

I really love this diaper! I recommend it to anyone with multiple kiddos in diapers, and I plan on purchasing a few once baby girl arrives. Softbums come in a variety of different colors (they just added two new ones!) and prints with either snaps or velcro. They also carry accessories and diaper packages.
