Ever since Heelys first came out I’ve wanted a pair. I’ve always thought they looked so fun and was confident that if I ever got some I would be an immediate pro, so naturally when I got a chance to do a review I jumped at it. When they came I tore open the box, read the instructions, put in the wheels, and laced them up. You know what happened next? Not a whole lot. It seemed like no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t roll anywhere. If you’ve never tried “Heeling”, you will be surprised to find that it takes a good bit of calf strength and balance. It actually took me about a week of practice and some Youtube videos to finally feel like I knew what I was doing, but once I reached that point it’s been really fun. I’m even learning how to do some cool (VERY basic) tricks!
Now on to the shoe itself. First of all, I LOVE the way my Heelys look. There are so many different styles and colors that almost anybody will be able to find a pair they like. They’re also super comfy. From the first time I put them on I was impressed at the amount of cushion they had, and they fit my feet really well. I can wear them all day (without the wheels of course) with no complaints.
Putting in the wheels is pretty easy, but here is a step by step in pictures.
Once they are in, you’re ready to start Heeling! One thing I didn’t expect was that walking is very difficult with the wheels, so don’t put them in unless you’re planning to roll everywhere. As general guidelines, Heelys recommends wearing protective gear, making sure there is plenty of room around you, and staying focused.
You can check out their Facebook page or connect with them on Twitter.
